Flat Prevention 1999.06.05
Air-tight silk tube with fibreglass barrier between tube and tyre.
I have read that Mongol soldiers wore silk shirts that prevented arrows from penetrating deeply into their bodies. The silk was woven so tightly that that the point of an arrow could not poke through. The fabric would wrap around the arrow head to prevent barbs from catching onto flesh. See here for more about this http://netsword.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000422.html.
If silk works to keep arrows from going in too deep into flesh, it might also work to keep thorns and nails from going into the tube, thereby reducing the tendency of going flat.
